Cornelius Peter WOLFE of Clearbrook BC, formerly of Yarrow BC passed away May 22, 1991.
He was born November 4, 1914 to Peter & Elizabeth Wolfe in Fuerstenland, South Russia. They lived on a mixed farm.
After the Russian Revolution, they immigrated to southern Manitoba and farmed there for 8 years. He received little formal education.
In the 1930's Depression, the Wolfe family moved to Yarrow BC where they worked in the hop yards and at a sawmill. In 1934, Corney accepted Christ under the ministry of Rev. A.H. Unruh. In 1935, he was baptized and joined Yarrow MB Church, where he was a parking attendant. He preferred to serve where he was not noticed. His social life revolved around the young people's group.
He married Mary Heinrichs on March 16, 1941. They had a small dairy and raspberry farm and he held various part-time jobs.
At age 50, he began working for the Guenther Door Factory and phased out farming.
He developed hobbies which he pursued after retirement, making spinning wheels, clocks, windmills and steam engines. This gave him much joy and he donated many to the MCC auction. One of his spinning wheels brought in $91 at the 1971 auction.
Corney had often whispered "Lord, I wish we would get $30 for it while making it."
He spent his last 4 years in a condominium in Clearbrook and joined Clearbrook MB Church.
Cancer was found in 1989, but he was able to pursue his activities without pain. He is mourned by his wife Mary, sons: John, Walter and Ken; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. His funeral was May 25, 1991 in the Clearbrook MB Church with Rev. Jacob Pauls and Rev. J.E. Klassen ministering.
Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery
