Jacob J. Wittenberg

Funeral service was held October 5, 1977 at Henderson's Funeral Home for Jacob J. Wittenberg, who died October 3, 1977 at his residence. Rev. Bob Gorrie officiated at the service.

Mr. Wittenberg was born in Russia on June 3, 1904.

He lived in this area for 40 years and was a retired school teacher and jeweller.

Mr. Wittenberg was a trustee with the Chilliwack School Board from 1946 to 1955. He was secretary-treasurer of Yarrow Waterworks for more than 30 years, retiring in September 1976.

He was a member of Carman United Church and a former member of Sumas United Church.

Mr. Wittenberg is survived by his wife Julia; one brother John Wittenberg of Vancouver. He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Schmidbauer of Vancouver in 1972.

Pallbearers at the service were John Sabo, Steve Sabo, Dale Sabo, Dave Epp, Dave Giesbrecht and Ludgwig Kilger. Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
