WITTENBERG, Jacob A.

Jacob A. Wittenberg

The death occurred in Yarrow at the family residence on Friday morning January 31, 1942 of Jacob A. Wittenberg following a short illness.

The late Mr. Wittenberg was sixty-four years of age. He was Born in South Russia on July 2, 1877 where he taught school and later became a business man. He married Agatha Warkentin in 1903 in Russia.

They immigrated to Canada and in 1929 and lived in Dundurn Saskatchewan for one year. Since leaving there he has resided with his family in Yarrow.

Shortly after his arrival he took out naturalization papers and has been a devout Canadian ever since, always taking an interest in the affairs of the church and community.

Besides his wife, Agatha, he leaves to mourn his loss, two sons, Jack J. Wittenberg, in business here, and Abram J. Wittenberg, Vancouver Island and one daughter Mrs. Katie (Maz) Schmidtbauer, Vancouver.

Funeral services took place in the Mennonite Brethren Church and burial followed at the Yarrow Cemetery.
