Kay Ewert UNGER 1928 - 2011
Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother passed away February 17, 2011. Kay was born on April 14, 1928 in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan - the youngest of six children born to Isaak and Sara Ewert.
Kay was predeceased by daughter Lynda and siblings Aron, Abe, Ike and Anne. Survived by loving husband Peter, sons Rick (Susan), Dan; grandchildren Ryan, Jake, Rachael, Sandy, Timothy, Jonathan; and brother Peter (Viola). Kay grew up on a chicken and berry farm in Yarrow, BC.
She was married to Peter Unger on April 23, 1950. They moved several times while Peter was logging, and settled in Vancouver in 1958.
They were blessed with 3 children. Kay worked faithfully and willingly at everything she did. She was an expert seamstress, flower arranger, quilter and cook and was always giving of her time and resources.
Many people are benefiting from over 1000 quilts that she helped create.
Viewing is March 2, 7 - 9 pm at Killarney Park MB Church (6426 Kerr St, Vancouver). Graveside service for family and close friends at the Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery (33965 Maclure Rd, Abbotsford) March 3, 10 am.
Celebration of Kay's life will be held on March 3, 2:00 pm at Killarney Park MB Church.
