It is with deep sadness that we announced the passing of Elizabeth Susie Thiessen (nee Klassen) at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Tuesday August 11, 2015.
Elizabeth was born on October 9, 1924, in Donskoj, Russia. Her parents were Herman & Elizabeth (Fast) Klassen. Their family came to Canada in February 1930, eventually settling in Gem, Alberta and later in Yarrow, BC. She was baptized July 13, 1941 at Coaldale Alberta. Elizabeth married Daniel Edward Thiessen on July 6, 1956 at Yarrow BC.
She was a prayer warrior bending God's ear daily and an active member of the choir in each of the churches she attended. She also helped reinvigorate the Ladies' Mission Circle in the 1970's that is still going strong today. In her later years she volunteered at the MCC Store helping wherever there was a need. Elizabeth valued education and loved children and had a rewarding career as a teacher. Her family, whom she loved dearly, kept her busy. She enjoyed knitting; crocheting, cooking, and baking and her zwieback were a family favourite.
Elizabeth was grateful for God's faithfulness in keeping her over her 91 years and the family would like to thank the staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for her care over the 2 weeks before she passed away.
Her husband Daniel predeceased her in 2009.
She is survived by her three children: Carolyn (Larry) Kwiatkowski, Arlene (Vern) Penner and Gordon (Julie) Thiessen, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at Bakerview Church August 19, 2015.
