Anna Schmidt passed away September 1, 1994. She was born December 30, 1903 to Jacob & Anna Rempel in Gruenfeld, Schlachtin, South Russia.
In fall, 1920 she committed her life to God through the teaching of her uncle, Abram Klassen, on 2 Corinthians 5:1-5, especially the words "But we know."
In 1923 the family immigrated to Canada. She left her fiance John Schmidt behind, confident that "if God has led us together, He will bring us together again." John joined them in Manitoba in 1925. They married August 16, 1925 and settled in Hochfeld, Manitoba.
They moved to Yarrow, B.C. in 1939. In 1989, they moved to the Menno Home in Abbotsford, B.C. She looked back on her life with gratefulness.
Predeceased by her husband John on Dec. 30, 1992, she is mourned by her children: Lydia Schmidt of Chilliwack, B.C.; Ben of Surrey, BC; Jake of Winnipeg, Man.; Helmut of Lake Errock BC; and Ted of Brooks, Alta.; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother. The funeral was September 7, 1994 in the Menno Home Chapel, with Henry Claassen and Ron Braun ministering. Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
