A resident of this area since 1943, Mrs. Eva Sawatsky, 42023 Central Road Yarrow, died January 14, 1976 in Chilliwack General Hospital. With her husband George, she celebrated her golden wedding anniversary in July 1974.

Pastor Abe Klassen officiated at the funeral service in Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church Eva Sawatsky was born on August 11, 1903 in Hague Saskatchewan to Heinrich H. & Anna (Redekopp) Funk. She had 1 brother and 8 sisters. She was baptized September 15, 1918 in the Brotherfield M.B. Church at Rosthern, Saskatchewan. Eva & Gerhard H. Sawatzky married on June 9, 1924 at Warman Saskatchewan at Brotherfield Mennonite Brethren Church west of Waldheim. George and Eva moved from Aberdeen, SK., to Yarrow, B.C. in 1943 and became members of Yarrow MB Church.

Mrs. Sawatsky is survived by her husband George and four daughters: Laura (Mervin) Effa, Phoenix, Arizona; Susan (Dave) Sperling, Abbotsford BC; Frances (Gerald) Harder, Outlook, Saskatchewan; Evangeline (Kenneth) Scarrow, Langley, BC; 10 grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Annie Sawatsky, Clearbrook, BC; and Mrs. Agatha Peters, Vancouver BC. She was predeceased by her parents; five sisters: Tina, Lizzie, Mary, Margaret and Helen and one brother Henry.

Pallbearers were Frank Sawatsky, Walter Sawatsky, Peter Tilitzky, Tony Heppner, John Schroeder and Dave Sawatsky.

Interment was in Yarrow cemetery.
