REIMER, Mary Esau


December 24, 1911 - March 26, 2012

Mary Reimer long-time resident of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully at the Tabor Home on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the age of 100 years.

Mary Esau Reimer was born in the Kuban, Russia. Mary's family immigrated to Canada in 1925, with her parents John & Sara Esau settling in Langham, Sask., where Mary accepted the Lord and was baptized. In 1928, they moved to Yarrow, B.C. Mary worked as a domestic to pay the transportation debt. She and Jacob first worked on a rabbit farm, and lived in Vancouver, then Calgary. They mourned their infant son Bernie. Mary served as deaconess in church. When health declined, she entered Tabor Home and continued to smile, speak, and sing as long as she was able.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Jacob in 1984 and by 12 siblings.

Mary is survived by her daughter Lenora (Orville) Adrian of Vernon, BC, son Dennis (Karen) Reimer of Calgary, Alberta, 2 grandsons David (Kim) Barker and Donald (Tara) Barker, great-grandchildren Amanda, John, and Michael, sister Gertie (John) Martens and extended family.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford with interment at the Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery.
