
George C. Penner
1904 – 1993
George C. Penner of 4653 #3 Road, Yarrow passed away on March 12, 1993 in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 88. He was born August 28, 1904 in Ukraine, Russia. He immigrated to Hague, Saskatchewan in 1923. He was baptized in the MB Church in Gilroy Saskatchewan in July 1930. He and his family moved to Yarrow in 1940. George was a retired Manager of John I. Haas Hop Farm.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1991 after 63 years of marriage.

George Penner is survived by two daughters: Mary (Floyd) Froberg of Bellingham, Washington; Martha (Jim) Boyd of Sardis, B.C.; three sons: George (Betty) Penner of Sardis; Dave (Lydia) Penner of Sardis and Henry Penner of Langley; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday March 17, 1993 at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Helmut Janzen officiating.
Casket bearers were: Alan Marshall, Wayne Penner, Doug Froberg, Rick Edin, Cecil Duronso, John Perez.
Interment was at Yarrow Cemetery.

Mary Penner
1908 – 1991
Mary Penner, late of 4653 #3 Road Yarrow, passed away August 30, 1991 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 83.
Mary was born on July 21, 1908 in Ukraine, Russia. In 1925, the family immigrated to Herbert, Saskatchewan. They moved to Truax, Sask. Where she met and married George Penner on February 9, 1928. They farmed in Lawson, Sask., then in Glenbush, Sask. Mary and George accepted Christ and were baptized by Jacob Bergen and joined the M.B. Church in Gilroy, Saskatchewan. They moved to Yarrow, B.C. in 1940 where they also farmed and joined the M.B. Church.
Mary was a homemaker. She loved to sew, cook, bake, garden and care for her family. She loved the Lord Jesus, prayed faithfully and practiced fairness.

Mary was predeceased by her brother David and her daughter Margaret. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George; daughter Mary (Floyd) Froberg of Bellingham, Washington; 3 sons: George (Betty) Penner of Sardis; Dave (Lydia) Penner of Sardis; Henry Penner of New Westminster; daughter Martha (Jim) Boyd of Sardis; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; her sister Nettie (Peter) Dueck of Clearbrook; her 2 brothers: Pete (Al) Letkeman of Yale; John (Martha) Letkeman of Yale; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Marie Letkeman of Enderby.
Casket bearers were: Alan Marshall, Wayne Penner, Douglas Froberg, Richard Hermann, Daniel Garayt and Cecil Duronso.
Funeral Service was held September 4, 1991 at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Ron Braun officiating. Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
