PENNER, David George and Lydia


David George Penner late of Chilliwack passed away peacefully on Friday May 8, 1998 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 65 years.

He was born March 22, 1933 in Lawson Sask. and had lived in the Chilliwack area since 1940. He worked as the manager at John I. Haas Company in Chilliwack. David was a longtime employee of East Chilliwack Co-Op where he worked as a boiler engineer.

David was an avid golfer and looked forward to each year to his annual trip to Reno. He loved his grandchildren, especially watching them participate in their various activities, including hockey, skating, graduations and weddings.

A private family graveside service was held. Interment at Vedder Valley View Gardens Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Wayne Penner, Dan Garayt, Rick Hermann, Bill Snow, Doug Froberg, Glen Barrett.

He is survived by his loving wife Lydia of 45 years; his three daughters: Elaine and husband Dan Garayt of New Westminster and Brenda and her husband Rick Hermann of Victoria; one son Wayne and his wife Julie Penner of Chilliwack; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Lyndell), Katherine (Joshua), Lisa (Jason), Lauren, Talia, Michael, Alex, Mitchell and Shane; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlinne, Chaysce, and Alex; two brothers: George (Betty) Penner of Sardis and Henry Penner of Langley, two sisters: Mary (Floyd) Froberg of Bellingham, WA, and Martha (Jim) Boyd of Sardis; and numerous nieces and nephews.




Lydia Penner

Lydia Penner late of Chilliwack B.C. passed away peacefully on July 19th 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 5, 1935 in Burwalde, Ukraine.

Funeral services were held July 26th at Henderson’s Funeral Home followed by interment at Valley View Gardens.

Lydia will be lovingly remembered by her children: Elaine (Glen) Barrett, Linda Garayt, Brenda (Rick) Hermann, Wayne (Julie) Penner, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lydia was predeceased by her husband Dave after 45 wonderful years of marriage.

The Penner family would like to thank Dr. David Fitzpatrick and the 4th floor nurses at the Chilliwack hospital for the excellent care they provided.
