Bernhard C. Penner

1892 – 1980

Bernhard Cornelius Penner of the Menno Home, 32910 Brundige Avenue, died July 12th 1980 at his residence. He was born in Russia on February 22, 1892, he was 87 years old.

He came to Canada in 1925 and lived in Herbert, Saskatchewan before moving to the Regina area. He moved to Sardis in 1944 and to Yarrow upon retiring, and to Abbotsford about 1979, about one and half years before he died.

He is survived by his wife Maria; sons Erven of Abbotsford, Otto of Sparwood and Bernie of Edmonton; daughters: Maria Banman and Helen Giesbrecht of Maple Ridge, 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Les Giesbrecht, Greg Penner, Terry Knowles, Syd, Bernie and Douglas Banman.

Funeral service for Mr. Penner was July 15th 1980 in the Menno Hospital Chapel, with Rev. H.H. Epp and Rev. Henry Claassen officiating.

Interment followed in Yarrow Cemetery.
