LOEWEN, David & Tina

David P. Loewen

1885 – 1955

David Peter Loewen was born in South Russia on October 25, 1885. In 1911 he married Miss Katharina Epp in Russia. They left Russia and came to Canada in 1928 with their children and settled in Saskatchewan.

They moved to Yarrow in the early 1940's and settled on a small farm on Dyke Road. David passed away December 5, 1955.

David Loewen is survived by his wife Tina at 1158 Dyke Road, Yarrow. He is also survived by his two sons, David of Yarrow and Abe of Abbotsford; and six daughters: Mrs. David (Tina) Sawatsky, Abbotsford; Mrs. Peter (Nettie) Wiens, Yarrow; Mrs. Corny (Helen) Friesen, Alberta; Mrs. Norman (Mary) Fehr, Saskatchewan; and Miss Elizabeth and Miss Bertha Loewen at home; one brother John in Russia and 14 grandchildren.

Rev. H. Lenzmann, assisted by Rev. J. Harder conducted the service at the Yarrow MB Church. Pallbearers were David and Abe Loewen, Peter Wiens, David Sawatsky and George and Isaac Epp.


Tina Loewen

1889 -1967

Tina Epp Loewen was born in Russia on April 29, 1889 in Rosenbach, Fürstenland, Russia, the youngest child of Gerhard G. & Katharina (Dyck) Epp. She married David Loewen in 1911.

She had lived in Yarrow for 23 years and passed away April 15, 1967 at her residence 4366 Cypress Street, Yarrow, B.C. in her 78th year.

Tina Loewen is survived by two sons: David (Eva), Yarrow and Abram (Tina), Abbotsford; six daughters Tina (David) Sawatsky, Abbotsford; Nettie (Peter) Wiens, Yarrow; Elizabeth Loewen, Yarrow; Mary (Norman) Fehr; Helen (Corny) Friesen, Saskatchewan; and Bertha Balzer, Ocean Falls and one sister Helena Neudorf, Altona, Manitoba and 20 grandchildren.

Funeral service for Tina Loewen was on April 19th 1967 at the Yarrow MB Church with Rev. D. Friesen and Rev. A. Rempel officiating.

Pallbearers were six grandsons: Rufus Loewen, Walter Loewen, Irvin Wiens, Gordon Wiens, Melvin Sawatsky and Orlando Sawatsky. Interment was in Yarrow Cemetery.
