KORNELSEN, Jacob

Jakob Kornelsen

1895 -1988

Jakob Kornelsen, late of Abbotsford, passed away October 3, 1988 at the Menno Hospital at age 93. He was born in Russia in 1895.

He was formerly of Yarrow for 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife Maria of Abbotsford; sons and daughters-in-law Peter & Maria of Germany; Jacob & Vera of Russia; daughters and sons-in-law Susie & Jakob Delisky-Laske of Germany; Sara & Peter Regehr of Germany; step-daughter Clara and her husband Henry Peters of Yarrow; sister Anny Bachman and her husband Nick of Richmond; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews and friends.

Funeral service was held October 7 from Yarrow Unite Mennonite Church with Pastor John Unrau officiating. Interment was in Yarrow Cemetery.

Maria Kornelsen

1903 – 2000

Maria Kornelsen, late of the Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, formerly of Yarrow, passed away on December 5, 2000. She was born December 7, 1903 in Russia and immigrated to Canada in 1948.

In Yarrow, Maria and her husband Jacob worked a small poultry and raspberry farm.

Maria is survived by her loving family: Daughter Clara (Henry) Peters of Abbotsford; step-children: Susie Delesky, Sarah (Peter) Regehr, Peter (Mary) Kornelsen and Jacob Kornelsen, all of Germany; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Jacob in 1988.

Funeral service was Monday December 11, 2000 at the First United Mennonite Church, 4336 Eckert Road, Yarrow. Interment followed at the Yarrow Cemetery. Pastors Ron Braun and Henry Claassen officiated.
