Samuel (Sam) Klaassen
Samuel (Sam) Klaassen passed into the presence of his Lord on August 22, 1996 at 89 years. He was born February 7, 1907 in Hillsboro, Kansas, USA to
John J.M. & Maria (Baerg) Klaassen. He married Helen Fedrau in March 1940.
Sam is survived by his loving family, two daughters, Norma (Ted) Janzen and their children: Arlene (Peter) Witzke; Karen, and Katherine Janzen; and Edna
Klaassen; and son: Don (Judy) Klaassen and their children: Melissa, Sharalee and Shantini; one brother; two sisters and numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters.
He will also be missed by other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Sam was held August 26, 1996 in Yarrow M.B. Church. Interment followed in Yarrow Cemetery. Pastor Ron Braun officiated.
Helen Klaassen
Helen (Fedrau) Klaassen of 41789 Central Road, Yarrow, B.C. died September 27, 1982 at Chilliwack General Hospital.
She was born February 18, 1909 in Russia to William & Katherine Fedrau in Samara, Russia. The family moved to Canada when Helen was just a few months old
and settled on a farm in Dalmeny, Sask. Her father passed away when she was 11. Two years later her mother married John Warkentin.
In 1928, Helen gave her life to Christ and was baptized the same year. In 1939 she moved to Yarrow to find work. In March 1940, she married Sam Klaassen.
Three children were born to them: Norma, Edna and Don. They began a small dairy farm on Boundary Road which they sold in 1965 and built a house in Yarrow.
She was a member of Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church; a housewife and took care of her home and children.
Helen is survived by her husband Sam; two daughters: Norma (Mrs. T.) Janzen of North Delta and Edna Klaassen of Yarrow; son and daughter-in-law Donald & Judy
Klaassen of Yarrow; five grand-daughters; sister Sarah Fedrau; brother John Fedrau of North Surrey; three step-brothers and two step-sisters.
Funeral service for Helen was held October 1, 1982 at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. A. Klassen and Rev. A. Esau officiating.
Pallbearers were Ted Janzen, Henry, Don and John Klaassen, Art Warkentin and Mervin Fedrau.
Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
