Anna Katharina Klassen
Nov 3, 1924 – Dec 9, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Klassen.
Anna was born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan, to David & Katharina Klassen, the youngest of their five children: Katharina, David, Elizabeth and Agatha in 1924, shortly
after her family emigrated from Russia. She spent her early years in Coaldale, Alberta.
She graduated from High School in Yarrow, B.C. and went on to study nursing, completing her RN at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
Anna was a caregiver in the truest sense of the word. Her nursing career took her across the country and to South Korea, where she spent three years caring for
infants in an orphanage.
After her retirement, she was a committed caregiver to her three sisters and to her extended family. Her fun loving spirit, artistic gifts and creativity
made "Aunt Annie" a favourite with all her nieces and nephews.
Anna had a strong faith. She always offered support and comfort wherever she saw a need, and supported her family and friends with prayers.
She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, their families, her dear friend Louise and many other friends and family members.
Anna was predeceased by her parents, David and Katharina Klassen, four siblings Katherine, David, Elizabeth and Agatha and two nephews.
Anna's family would like to thank the staff of the complex palliative care unit at Abbotsford Hospital for their gentle love and care to Anna and her family members.
A celebration of her life was held at Bakerview Church auditorium on Wednesday, December 13th at 2:00 pm.
