JANZEN: Katharina "Tina" (1922-1989):
Tina Janzen (67) passed away on October 26, 1989 in Vancouver General Hospital, after a brain tumor was discovered in the spring. She was born on March 16,
1922 in Volodyevka, Trubetskoye, Kherson, 2nd daughter of Peter & Elisabeth (Reimer) Enns. In 1930 (Oct) her family moved to the Sagradovka Colony where they
lived in #2 Neu-Schoensee. There she married her sweetheart, Jacob Janzen on November 7, 1940. In 1943 (Oct) Tina fled with her mother and sisters to Poland,
and in 1944 went on to Soest, Westphalen, where Jake was reunited with them after the war.
In 1948 they immigrated to Canada and arrived in May at his Jake's cousin, John Derksen’s farm on Central Road in Yarrow, BC. In 1950 they moved to Vancouver, where they
raised their family of 5 sons: Karlheinz, born in Poland, Harry, born in Germany, and Walter, Helmut and Eduard, born in Vancouver. Tina is remembered for her
strong faith, and steadfast dedication to her family.
She is mourned by her husband of almost 50 years; 5 sons, Karl, Harry, Walter, Helmut and Ed; 11 grandchildren; mother Elisabeth Albert; 2 sisters, Elisabeth Siemens,
and Justina Becker, and a brother, Peter Enns in Neuwied. Predecease by her sister Helene Koehn. The funeral was held October 30th in Culloden MB Church, Vancouver,
with Pastor Rudie Willms ministering.
Attached is an old picture of the Church Group in 1948. The close-up circle is of Tina and Jake on the right, along with Tina's mother, Liese (Reimer) Enns, at the top
left, and her daughters, Liese (Enns) Janzen, Justina and Lena Enns. Another cousin to Dad was Jacob J. Isaak and his 2nd wife, Justina (Reimer) Isaak, who was also related.
