JANZEN: Jacob H. (17 Nov 1920 - 14 Mar 1993):
Jacob H. Janzen passed away at Vancouver General Hospital at the age of 72. He was born 17 Nov 1922 to Heinrich & Katharina (Bergen) Janzen in Neu-Schoensee, Sagradovka.
There he married his childhood sweetheart, Tina Enns on 7 Nov 1940. Drafted into the Germany army, he was separated from Tina during the war, as she and her mother and
sisters fled to Poland in 1943 (Oct), and went on to Soest, Germany, where they were reunited after the war.
In 1948 they emigrated to Canada, they arrived at his cousin John Derksen’s farm on Central Road in Yarrow. From there they moved to Vancouver in 1950, where Jake found work,
first at Canada Packers, and then at Sears. In 1956, he established his own business, Janzen’s Draperies & Interiors Ltd., a work he and Tina enjoyed for 22 years, until
their retirement in 1978.
In 1964, through the ministry of the Janz Team, Jake and Tina accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, they were baptized on December 15th at the Vancouver MB Church by Pastor
David B. Wiens. After almost 50 years of marriage, Tina passed away in 1989.
They were blessed with five sons; Karlheinz, Harry, Walter, Helmut, and Eduard.
Jake married his 2nd wife, Margaret Derksen on 18 May 1991 in Richmond. She was the daughter of
his uncle, John & Tina Derksen, and grew up in Yarrow. Married only a brief 22 months, Jake passed away on 14 Mar 1993, of congestive heart failure.
Pre-deceased by Tina, his parents and 9 siblings, he is mourned by Margaret, and his family: Karl (Donnie), Harry (Anne), Walt (Elfi), Helmut (Sharon), and Ed (Chris); and
his 11 grandchildren: Lance & Mark, Matthew, Maryanne, Michael & Melissa, Melanie, Daniella & Stephen, and Andrea & Janelle. Funeral service was held 19 Mar 1993 at
Fraserview MB Church in Richmond, with Pastor Rudy Willms of Culloden MB Church ministering.
