JANZEN, Henry Jacob

JANZEN, Henry Jacob Henry Jacob Janzen of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away May 17, 1988.

He was born May 26, 1903 in Franzthal, Molotschna to Jacob K. and Katharina Janzen. He attended elementary school here, and high school Gnadenfeld.

In Oct. 1925 his family immigrated to Canada while he stayed behind for military service.

In 1926 he joined his family in Manitoba, and in 1932 they moved to Yarrow, B.C.

On Oct. 20, 1935 he married Mary Penner, a union blessed with five children.

In 1936 they settled on a farm on Stewart Road in Yarrow. He attended and served actively in Yarrow MB Church as youth leader, choir member and Sunday school teacher.

In 1967 he retired to Clearbrook, where he worked as Mennonitische Rundschau correspondent and librarian in Clearbrook MB church. He also sang in the male and German choirs.

Henry enjoyed gardening and getting together with his friends, relatives and children. In 1981 he began a battle with cancer. His family remembers him as a concerned husband and father, committed to the Lord. His desire was that all his children and grandchildren would follow Christ.

He is mourned by his wife Mary, his children Arthur (Evelyn, Walter (Nellie), Martha (Elmer) Guenther, Sally (Ted) Cui and Mary Anne (Don) Falk, and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral was May 24 in Clearbrook MB Church, with pastor John E. Klassen and John Enns ministering.
