Henry Jacob Janzen of Penticton went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Henry was born July 18, 1928 at Rosser MB and moved to Yarrow, BC with his parents, sisters Lena & Katie and grandparents in 1932.
He attended elementary school in Sardis and attended the Elim Bible School in Yarrow.
He married Margaret Dyck on May 19, 1951 at the Yarrow MB Church and moved to Vancouver, BC. Henry & Margaret were foster parents and then adopted Gary, Debra Anne and Janet Ruth. Henry took courses and acquired certificates in Lumber grading and tallying, Industrial First Aid, Job and Safety Instruction. Later he also took a course in book-keeping.
His daughters loved to be the "patients" when he was taking the First Aid Courses and had to practice what he was learning. Henry worked at Flavelle Cedar Mill for many years before retiring in 1989. He loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing and his Christmas tree farms as well as travelling the world and working with his stained glass.
Henry was very dedicated to his wife and family and was devoted to Christ and the Church. Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret Janzen of Penticton; two children, Debra Anne (Terry) Britton of Calgary and Janet Ruth (Norm Kling) Janzen of Nanaimo; five grandchildren; Letesha (Sean Lund) Hall of Elma, WA, Shannon (Jake Moyer) Hall of Maple Ridge, Andrew, Jack and Sarah Britton all of Calgary; three great-grandchildren, Jayla, Liam-Henry and Presley.
Henry will be missed by his brother Erwin (Leona), his sisters Lena (Jack), Katherine (Peter), Ruth (Peter), Esther (Ron) and Lenora (Doug) as well as his large extended family.
Henry was sadly predeceased by his son Gary Stephen Janzen (1966); sisters Erna Bukowski (2000) and Anne Poetker (2005) and his parents Jacob & Helena Janzen.
