A retired farmer and resident of Yarrow for 37 years, Henry I. Harder died April 23, 1966 at his residence, 4344 Cypress Street, Yarrow. Funeral service was held at the Yarrow
Mennonite Brethren Church. Pallbearers were Nick, Henry and John Harder, George Wiebe, John Dyck and Roland Giesbrecht.
Henry Isaac Harder was born November 8, 1894 in Wohldemfuerst, Kuban, South Russia to Isaac & Helena (Martens) Harder. He was baptized at Wohldemfuerst, Kuban, South Russia.
Henry married Erna Berg on October 28, 1920 in Kuban Colony, South Russia. They immigrated to Canada on May 24, 1926, first to Manitoba, then shortly thereafter to Yarrow B.C
where they operated a small dairy farm. Two children: Nick and Helen were born in Russia; Henry was born in June, just after they arrived in Canada; followed by Elvira and John
who were born in Canada. The Harder farm was on Wilson Road.
Henry Harder is survived by three sons: Nick Harder, Vancouver; Henry and John Harder, Burnaby; two daughters: Helen (George) Wiebe, La Glace, Alta.; Elvera (John) Dyck, Richmond;
16 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Tina Giesbrecht, Vancouver; one brother and three sisters in Russia.
Interment was at the Yarrow Cemetery.
