
Fred Abram Harder MD
1927 - 2005
Siegfried (Fred) Abraham Harder was born December 23, 1927 at Fleming Saskatchewan to Johannes and Tina Harder.
He passed away peacefully on January 30, 2005. Fred is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Gerry; his sons Ken, Doug, Dennis, Gord, and Gregg; his daughter-in-law Tracy, and his seven growing grandchildren.
Fred is survived by brothers John and David, and sisters Rose, Lillie, and Berta. "Uncle Fred" will always be remembered for his honesty, faithfulness, compassion, integrity and dedication to his family and patients. He was an inspiration to all of us.
Fred graduated with the First Class of Medicine UBC in 1954 and served the community of New Westminster for 35 years. He was active in initiating the Royal Columbian Hospital Internship Program and Emergency Physicians Group, and was President of the Westminster Medical Association 1964-65.
Upon retirement, the Simon Fraser Health Region appointed Fred Honorary Medical Staff. He was also a member of the Physicians Support Group and Honorary Member of Julien House Society.
Fred was a friend of Bill W. Fred loved to play golf and ski. He was a pioneer at Whistler Mountain and helped to establish the Whistler Physicians Group.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Fred's remarkable life was held February 11 2005 at Queens Avenue United Church (529 Queens Avenue, New Westminster). A reception followed at the Church.
