Alfred Abram Hamm

December 6, 1919 - July 28, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Hamm, born on December 6, 1919 in Halbstadt, Molchna, Ukraine to Abram and Elizabeth, the 6th of 6 children. He emigrated with his parents to Canada in August 1924 at the age of 4 1/2 years old, and first settled in Manitoba. Later, they moved to Readymade near Coaldale, Alberta, and then to Yarrow, BC in 1939.

He married Mary Krause in 1944, and she joined him on his farm on Annis Rd in Chilliwack. He sold the farm in 1962 and operated a raspberry farm for several years. Subsequently, he became a salesperson at the East Chilliwack Co-op where he worked until he retired at 66 in 1985.

He is predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Krause) of 64 years in 2008, and son Edwin in 1966. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Alvin, (Suzanne), Viola Miller, Esther Cram (Don), Sharon Goodall, and Patty Hamm, and by his eight grandchildren, their spouses and five great-grandchildren.
