After high school he spent three years at the Briercrest Bible Institute where he graduated and followed the Lord's leading into the field of aviation.

On May 20, 1972 he was married to Gerlinde (Gerry) Bartel in Chilliwack. In their six years of marriage the Lord blessed their home with two girls.

He is remembered by his family as an active Christian and spiritual leader, one who loved the Lord and tried to follow Him in every part of his life.

Peter is survived by his wife, Gerry, his daughters Valerie, Denise and a baby he did not meet, his parents, six brothers and wives, and two sisters and husbands.
