Henry “Hank” Giesbrecht

August 4, 1926 - August 17, 2016

We are sad to announce the passing of Hank Giesbrecht on August 17, 2016 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 90. He was born in Omsk, Russia to Heinrich J. & Sarah (Driediger) Giesbrecht on August 4, 1926 and arrived in Coaldale. Alberta when he was 4 months old. Eventually the family settled in Yarrow. He was one of 8 brothers: Jacob, Hank, Frank, Peter, John, Bernie, Ed and Walter; and 3 sisters; Helena, Susana and Mary,

Hank was the barber in Yarrow from 1945 until his retirement in 2014, at the ripe old age of 88. He loved the game of golf, and you would find him on the course most Wednesdays. He always had a smile on his face and when questioned on how he was doing, it was always "One hundred percent".

Hank is survived by his wife Kay, married 61 years, daughter Maureen Vogt (Garry Wall), son Alan Giesbrecht (Marion), grandchildren Nikki, Jordan and Danica and great-grandchildren Kaiya and Quentin. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave. Chilliwack.
