GIESBRECHT, Edward Rudolph

June 10, 1937 - May 10, Edward went Home May 10, 2015.

He was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2009, after which he received blood transfusions every 6 weeks, though the time between steadily decreased until he endured them bi-weekly. He prayed for the donors on whose gifts he depended and was thankful for the excellent health care staff.

Edward was a man of various interests. Those he could not experience in person he did so through books. He was a word-smith, always enjoying a good debate.

Ed was born in Yarrow B.C. His parents were Peter & Aganetha (Derksen) Giesbrecht. He attended Elementary School in Yarrow and graduated from Chilliwack Senior High School in 1956.

He loved his family, brothers: David, Hank, George, Peter, Martin and Bill; sisters: Betty and Cathy.

Ed married his high school sweetheart Katie Klassen July 20, 1957 at the Yarrow MB Church. Ed & Katie were blessed with children Dennis, Corinne (Darrell Gushue), Keith (Jennifer), and Grandsons Philip and Connor. Ed was predeceased by his father, Peter in 1981 and his mother Aganetha in 1998 and his brother Peter in 1978. He was thankful for God's forgiveness.

When friends said "Hang in there" he would reply "I can't, I do not have the energy to hang on but God is holding me and He's not letting me go."

The Memorial Service is at 1:00pm on May 15th at Richmond Bethel Church, 10200 No. 5 Rd. Richmond, BC.
