GIESBRECHT, David

David Giesbrecht peacefully passed away into the presence of Jesus at Bevan Lodge, Abbotsford, on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at the age of 87 years.

He was born in Kuban, Russia, immigrated to Canada via Mexico as a child, and settled in Yarrow, where he farmed and supported the physical needs of his family, church, and his community for 70 years.

David is predeceased by his wife Lydia in 1994; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his seven sons and their wives, John (Elsie), Ralph (Shirley), Robert (Shirley), Victor (Bonnie), Gerald (Rene), Philip (Heidi), and Harold (Nancy); 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters.

Public viewing will be held in Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church, 41991 Central Rd., Yarrow on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at 9 a.m. with a funeral service at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Yarrow Cemetery. Pastor Ron Braun, officiating.

In David's memory, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, a Relief and Development Agency.
