FAST, Mary Wiebe

Mary Wiebe Fast - 1899 – 1946

Funeral services were conducted Sunday in the Yarrow M.B. Church for Mrs. Mary Fast who died Friday morning, August 23, 1946 in the Vancouver General Hospital Mrs. Fast, t he former Mary Wiebe was born November 19, 1899 at Alexandrodar, Kuban, South Russia to Isaak A & Anna (Stobbe) Wiebe. Mary married Gerhard Fast on December 30, 1920 at Kuban Colony in South Russia.

In 1924, they and their two children: Annie (born December 26, 1922) and George (born April 17, 1924); and most of the Wiebe family sailed to Mexico on the Volendam. Bernhard (Ben) was born in Irapuato, Mexico on April 7, 1926.

They spent 1 1/2 years in Mexico and moved to Butler, Manitoba where David was born (September 17, 1928). They then moved to Agassiz, B.C. where Mary was born May 11, 1930] and Kathie was born March 9, 1932. Then they moved to Yarrow B.C. where John was born on December 13, 1933. After moving to the mountainside in Yarrow Martha was born February 23, 1935; Irma born June 12, 1936 and Elisabeth (Betty) born on June 16, 1938.

Mrs. Fast is survived by her husband: George Fast; and all ten of her children, four sons: George, Ben, Dave and John; and six daughters: Annie, Mary, Katie, Martha, Irma and Betty and her father: Isaac Wiebe; all of Yarrow. She is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Annie Paetkau, Vancouver; Mrs. Selma Konrad, Manitoba; and Martha Schmoorr, Russia; and two brothers: John Wiebe, Greendale and Isaac Wiebe Jr. Chilliwack B.C.

Interment was in Yarrow cemetery.
