ENNS, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Enns

1922 -2004

Elizabeth Fast Enns was born July 9, 1922 in the city of Odessa, Ukraine. Elizabeth was the first of 9 children born to Peter and Helena Fast. In 1926 the family emigrated to Canada, first settling in Main Centre Sask., where they encountered, first hand, the effects of the depression years.

When she was 15 the family moved to a small acreage on Eckert Street in Yarrow, BC. That same year she accepted God's gift of love and was baptized. In the following year, while still 15, she went to work as a maid and nanny in Vancouver. She returned to Yarrow to attend Bible School for a winter. During this time she got to know John H. Enns, also from Yarrow.

Elizabeth married John Enns on December 6, 1943. He was a C.O. on Vancouver Island. She worked at the Lourdes Hospital in Campbell River, B.C. They moved to Vancouver and in 1953 they moved to a farm in Abbotsford. John worked in Vancouver and Elizabeth looked after the farm.

In retirement they travelled and wintered in the south. She invested her life in family and was proud of her children and grandchildren.

Elizabeth passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Sept. 1, 2004 at the Tabor Home, where she had been cared for since July 2004.

Elizabeth is survived by her devoted and loving husband John; daughters: Grace (David) Mossop, Luella Ennis, Betsy D’Agata, and Florence (Gary) Green; sons: Ed (Laura) Enns and James Enns; grandchildren: Karla, Melanie, Martin, Colin, Tara, Jarrett, Michael, Jonathan, Katherine, Jim, Paul and Sarah; and great-grandchildren: Amanda, Caleb, Kathryn, Iliana, Joey, Melissa and Matthew.

Elizabeth will also be dearly missed by her siblings, Tina, Lena (Abe), Selma (John), Mary (Ed), Anne (Brian), Pete (Betty), Frieda (Dave), and Vic (Stephanie).

Above all Elizabeth was devoted to her family. She loved every one of us and was loved in return.

A memorial service was held on Sept. 7, 2004 from Central Heights MB Church, 1661 McCallum Rd.
