DYCK, Susanne Guenther

Susanna Guenther Dyck

Mrs. Susanna Dyck (Guenther) was born on September 26, 1902 in Ekaterinoslav Province, South Russia. Her parents were Abram & Anna (Epp) Guenther. She lost her mother when she was 11 years old. She was baptized upon confession of faith in 1925.

She married Cornelius C. Dyck on August 2, 1925 in Arkadak Colony Russia. Four children were born to them in Russia: John, Abe, Elizabeth (Feb 3 - Dec 25, 1929) and Margaret. In 1930 they immigrated to Canada. They lived in Manitoba where Agatha, Cornelius, Sue, Helen, Henry, Jacob, David were born in Manitoba. In 1945 they moved to Yarrow where another two children: Betty and Rudy were born. She lived in Yarrow for 26 years.

She passed away July 1, 1971 in the Chilliwack General Hospital. Funeral service was at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. John Klassen and Rev. David Friesen officiating.

Susanna Dyck is survived by her husband, Cornelius, 4202 Boundary Road, Yarrow; seven sons: John of Richmond; Abe of Prince George; Neil in Fort Nelson; Henry of Clearbrook; Jake of Ontario; David of Aldergrove; and Rudy of Yarrow; five daughters: Margaret (Henry) Janzen of New Westminster; Agatha (Cornelius) Pauls of Richmond; Sue Harold) Redekop of Fort Nelson; Helen (Peter) Dueck of Calgary AB; Betty (Dennis) Siemens of Abbotsford; 32 grandchildren; five sister, and one brother.

Pallbearers were her sons: John Dyck, Neil Dyck, Jake Dyck, Abe Dyck, Henry Dyck, and David Dyck. Interment was in Yarrow Cemetery.
