
John Dyck
1915 - 1989
John Dyck late of 46333 Riverside Drive, Chilliwack, B.C. passed away September 27, 1989 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at age 74.
He was born August 18, 1915 to John & Anna Dyck at Alexanderkrone, Molotschna, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada, arriving in Saskatoon in July 1924. They lived in Mennon Saskatchewn for a few years. In 1931 they moved to Yarrow B.C. where he attended Bible School
In 1951, he rededicated his life to the Lord and was baptized.
On May 17, 1936 he married Anne Nikkel at the Mennonite Church in Yarrow. They were blessed with 4 sons, but two died in infancey.
He worked on local farms in Yarrow. In 135, he began work at Canadian Hopyards; his dedicaton to the people around him and high work ethics made him and effective and respected foreman. When the hopyards closed in 1951, he became a truck driver in charge of road patching for the municipality of Chilliwack. He took pride in his workd and made strong friends over the next 27 years.

After retirement, he did what he liked best—working artistically with flowers and shrubbery. He enjoyed music, singing in a male choir in Yarrow and the German choir in Chilliwack.
He was a member of the Broadway Mennonite Brethren Church and a member of the church choir for many years. He was also member of several different committees of the church board and after retirement, helped maintain the church grounds. He held membership too with Cheam Housing.
John suffered a heart attack while gardening on July 4th and never recovered.
John is survived and mourned by his wife Anne; sons and daughters-in-law: Jim & Jeannette of Abbotsford; Irvin & Tangerine of Toronto; grandchildren: Glen, Michelle, Angela, and Marcia and by his sister Martha Wilms of Clearbrook
Funeral service was held September 30th 1989 from the Broadway Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Bob Friesen officiating.
Casket bearers were Walt Willms, Edwin Willms, Peter Walde, Henry Bergen, Herman Bloch and Jake Derksen.
Interment was at Yarrow Cemetery .
