DERKSEN, David


David Derksen

1915 - 1980

David Derksen of 32089 Old Yale Road, Clearbrook died February 7, 1980 at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. He was 65 years old.

He was born in Russia and came to Canada in 1926 and settled in Manitoba. He moved to Yarrow, B.C. in 1928 where he was one of the original owners of Central Motors and later owned and operated D & D Hardware in Yarrow. He moved to Clearbrook in 1971.

David Derksen is survived by his wife Margaret, sons John of Surrey, David of Courtenay and Ronald of Alberta; and daughters: Delores Maloney of Vancouver, Eleanor Guenther of Yarrow and Marlene Derksen of Clearbrook; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving David are his sisters: Anna Dahl of Yarrow; Mary Enns of Manitoba, Annie Dyck of Richmond and Martha Plett of Burnaby.

Funeral service was held February 11, 1980 at Yarrow MB Church with Pastor Peter Penner and Rev. David Friesen officiating.

Pallbearers were John and Ronald Derksen, Patrick Maloney, John Guenther and John Plett.

Interment was at Yarrow Cemetery with Woodlawn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements


David Derksen in the back row, last man on the right side of the Yarrow MB Church choir. He provided and operated the PA system for the Church… and the spot on the end let him slip out when the sound needed adjusting.
