Gunther Deissner

1928 – 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gunther Deissner on July 27, 2015 in in Chilliwack General Hospital at Chilliwack, BC.

Gunther was born on September 23, 1928 in Ostrau, Germany, he was 86 years old.

He was predeceased by his parents Willi & Berta; brothers Hans and Rudolf and sister Christa.


Gunther is survived by his wife Helene of Yarrow, B.C.; son Pascal (Sally) and family from B.C.; his brothers: Erhard (Trautel) and Karl-Heinz (Klara) and families in Germany.

Gunther immigrated to Canada in 1953 working at the Canadian Pacific Hotels across Canada as a Baker. In B.C. he also worked for Gizella Pastry, Woodward’s Bakery, Safeway and the ABC Restaurant in Chilliwack. His specialty was wedding cakes, which he loved making.

A celebration of his life was held at the Yarrow Community Centre.
