
John L. Dahl
John Lohrenz Dahl of 41762 Yarrow Central Rd., Yarrow died February 13, 1986 at Chilliwack General Hospital. Funeral service was held February 18th at Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor A.L. Klassen officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Miller, Mark Dahl, David Isaak, Dean Dahl, Gerald, Dahl and Inacio Teodora DaSilva.
John Dahl was born March 7, 1908 in Nicolagonda, Russia; his parents were Johann J. & Judith 'Ida' (Lohrenz) Dahl. His brothers and sisters were: Maria (1907-1984); Jakob (1909-1972); Frank (1911-1998); Henry (1912-1996); Katharina (1014-2007); and Peter (1916-1974). He had lived in Yarrow since 1929. He was a retired dairy farmer.
He was a pioneer resident of the Fraser Valley; he had immigrated to Canada in October 16.1925 arriving in Quebec. After working at harvesting jobs on the Prairies for several years, he came to Yarrow in 1929. Following the Depression, he and his family moved to Sumas Prairie, where he retired in 1971 and moved to Yarrow again.
He was a charter member of the Yarrow MB Church.
He is survived by his wife Anna; sons: John (Barbara) MacKenzie, BC; David (Faith) of Langley; Leslie (Miriam) of Jamaica; Dennis (Carman) of Barriere, BC; daughter: Annie (Jim) Miller of Prince George; daughter-in-law Anne Dahl of Abbotsford; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Ervin in 1982 and his sons George and Alfred as infants.
Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
