DAHL, Jakob


Jakob Dahl

1909 – 1972

Jakob Dahl was born July 17 1909 to Johann J. Dahl and Judith Ida Dahl at Dagestan Republic, Russia. He had two siblings Maria Dahl Hooge and one other sibling who wasn’t named in his information.

He was survived by his wife Elizabeth Vera Giesbrecht Dahl; and sons: David, Walter, Peter, Alvin, Arthur and Ken; daughters Lenora Redekop, Helen Klatt and Karen Redekopp.

Jakob passed away in August 11th 1972 at age 63 at the Abbotsford MSA Hospital. He is buried at the Yarrow Mennonite Cemetery.




Elizabeth Giesbrecht Dahl

1911 – 1987

Elizabeth Vera Dahl of Clearbrook B.C. passed away April 28, 1987. She was born February 16th 1911 to Peter & Elizabeth (Wittenberg) Giesbrecht in Russia.

The Giesbrecht family left Russia in 1924 and settled in Mexico for two years. They moved to Nelson, B.C. for 2 years and then to Yarrow, B.C.

Elizabeth was baptized at age 18 and joined the Yarrow MB Church.


Her family posted the Engagement on August 25, 1932.

On October 23rd 1932, she married Jacob Dahl, a union blessed with nine children. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in October 1957 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Arnold. They were married by Rev. John A. Harder who also officed at their silver wedding anniversary.

In March 1946 they moved to a dairy farm where they lived for 22 years.

Jacob died in 1972 and in 1973, she moved to Clearbrook where she enjoyed her retirement years.


In the last two years she enjoyed the Bible studies, singing and fellowship in her condo. She loved the Lord and spent time in Bible reading and prayer. She passed away on April 28th 1987.

She was predeceased by her husband Jacob Dahl; she is mourned by her sons: David, Walter, Peter, Alvin, Arthur and Ken; daughters Lenora Redekop, Helen Klatt and Karen Redekopp; 21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five sisters and three brothers.

The funeral for Elizabeth Dahl was on May 1st 1987 at the Central Heights MB Church in Abbotsford with pastor Henry Wiebe and Paul Wiebe ministering.

Interment was at the Yarrow Cemetery.
