Susanna Braun of Abbotsford, BC died on May 13, 1980 at the Abbotsford General Hospital at the age of 85 years.

She was born on January 6, 1895 in Orenburg, Kanzarovka, Russia to Dietrich & Katharina (Friesen) Siemens. On August 1, 1914, she married Jon Braun, son of John & Maria Braun. The immediately immigrated to Canada in 1926 and settled temporarily in the Herbert area of Saskatchewan. Twelve children were born to them; 4 children died in childhood, surviving are 5 sons and 3 daughters. In March 1928, they moved to Yarrow, BC, where their son Ben was born on June 17th, 1928, who was the first baby born in the new settlement of Yarrow.

Susanna was predeceased by her husband John J. in 1971and a grandson Kevin in 1980. She is survived by five sons: Harvey of Vancouver, Jim of Yarrow; Ben of Chilliwack; Dave of Abbotsford; and Fred of Kelowna; three daughters: Martha of Mexico City; Mary Stobbe of Langley and Susan Brandt of Hepburn, Saskatchewan and 21 grandchildren.

She retired to the Menno Home in Clearbrook in 1972 where she was well cared for until she passed away May 13, 1980.

Funeral service was held on May 16, 1980 from the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Abe Klassen and Rev. Daniel Smuland officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Stobbe, Stanley Braun, Brian Brown, Milton Braun, Ralph Braun and Dale Brown. Interment followed in Yarrow cemetery.
