BOSCHMAN, Rudy

Rudy Boschman was born October 15, 1923 in Halbstadt, Ukraine. His parents were Nicholas & Elisabeth (Klassen) Boschman.

When Rudy was 3, the family immigrated to Canada. He accepted Christ as Saviour at age 9. He was baptized at Yarrow MB Church, Yarrow (B.C.) MB, 1937 and on Aug. 22, 1943, he married Anne Klassen together they raised a family of four children.

Rudy's passions were music and evangelism, he devoted his life to sharing the gospel with everyone he met. He taught at Elim Bible School, Yarrow, B.C., 1946-47, and 1948-49.

As Canadian MB conference evangelist for 5 years, he travelled Canada and the U.S. with the Messengers Quartet. He served the board of missions and services 12 years. He was provincial moderator, assistant moderator, conference minister, and executive member and chair of the Canadian MB board of spi ritual and social concerns.

Rudy was ordained in 1962, Rudy pastored Linden (Alta.) MB Church, 1965-68 and Central Heights (MB) Church, Abbotsford, B.C., 1973-86.

Gifted in pre-marital, marriage, and family counselling, Rudy was also a sought-after camp and conference speaker. In 1986, Anne died after a short journey with brain cancer.

Rudy married Anne Janzen, 1987 with whom he enjoyed many travel and ministry opportunities. As a "snowbird," 1992-1997, he preached in many campgrounds in Mesa, Arizona. His autobiography is aptly titled "By My Spirit."

Rudy spent the last two years of his life in a care facility; first Bevan Lodge and most recently Menno Home. The family is deeply grateful to the wonderful staff that cared for him.

On October 28, 2012 Rudy's long awaited desire was realized, when he peacefully passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour. He leaves to mourn his wife, Anne, his children Ed & Carol Boschman, Merv & Carol Boschman, Vange & Rick Falk, Viv & Ron Johnstone, 13 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.

The Memorial Service was held at Central Heights Church, on Friday, November 2nd.
