Julius Berg
Julius Anton Berg was born February 11, 1899 in Hoffnungsau, Ukraine, Russia, the son of Anton A. Berg and Anna (Janzen) Berg. He accepted Jesus as his
personal Saviour in his teens, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.
He married Helene Sukkau on February 22, 1922 in Lavarov, Suvorovka, North Caucasus, Russia. They immigrated to Canada in 1925, living first in Winkler and
then in Mountainside, Manitoba. They moved to B.C. in 1931 and to Yarrow in 1937 and to Clearbrook in October 1979.
He is predeceased by his wife Helena and two sons. He is survived by three sons: George & Agnes of Port Moody B.C., Tony of Rosedale and
George & Agnes of Port Moody B.C., and Harry of Vancouver, B.C.; four daughters: Louise of Vancouver; (Mrs.) Anne Kirkaldy of Hamilton,
Ontario; Hilda (Mrs. Peter) Worobets of Kitimat, B.C. and Heidi of Vancouver; eight grandchildren and one sister.
Julius died 6 Dec 1979 in Yarrow, B.C. The funeral was held December 10th in the Yarrow M.B. Church with pastor A.L. Klassen and H. Thielmann in charge.
Helene Berg
Mrs. Helene Berg, 42036 Central Road, Yarrow, a member of Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church, died October 25, 1974 at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
Helene Sukkau was born on April 25, 1897 in Kleefeld Russia, she married Julius Anton Berg on February 22, 1922 in Lavarov, Suvorovka, North Caucasus, Russia.
They immigrated to Canada in 1925, living first in Winkler and then in Mountainside, Manitoba. They moved to B.C. in 1931 and to Yarrow in 1937 where
she lived for the last 27 years.
She is survived by her husband Julius, Four daughters: Miss Louise Berg, Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. (Hilda) Worobets, Kitimat, B.C.; and Miss Heidi Berg
at home; three sons: George of Port Moody, B.C., Harry in Vancouver, B.C. and Tony at home; eight grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.
She was predeceased by one son John on October 2, 1974.
Funeral service was held at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church followed by interment in the Yarrow Cemetery.
Rev. A.L. Klassen officiated at the service assisted by Rev. P.D. Loewen. Pallbearers were: Peter Giesbrecht,
John Dahl, Henry Derksen, Peter Wolf and John Unger. Henderson’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
John Jacob Berg
John Jacob Berg, a former resident of Yarrow and a resident of 235 Hastings Street East, Vancouver since 1944, died October 2, 1974 in the Vancouver General Hospital.
John Berg was born September 17, 1926 in Winkler Manitoba. He was a member of the IWA.
He is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Julius Berg; four sisters:
Miss Louise Berg, Vancouver; Mrs. J. (Ann) Kirkaldy, Lancaster, Ontario; Mrs. P. (Hilda) Worobets, Kitimat, B.C.; and Miss Heidi Berg, at home in Yarrow;
three brothers: George Berg, Port Moody, B.C; Harry Berg, Vancouver and Tony Berg at home in Yarrow.
Pallbearers were: Bob Montgomery, John Unger, Jake Giesbrecht, Henry Giesbrecht, Frank Giesbrecht, and Jake Klassen.
Rev. A.L Klassen and Rev. P.D. Loewen officiated at the funeral service at the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church. Interment was in the Yarrow Cemetery.
Henderson’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
