GOERTZ, Agatha



Agatha Goertz (Derksen)

Agatha Goertz, a former resident of Peters Road, Yarrow died April 6, 1977 at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford. Funeral services were held April 9, 1977 at the Bakerview Mennonite Brethren Church. Pastor Ben Zerbe and Rev. David Friesen officiated.

Agatha Derksen was born in Komischow, Orenburg, Russia on October 3, 1901 to Peter J. & Elizabeth (Dueck) Duerksen. She was baptized in Siberia and came to Canada with her parents.

She married Daniel Goertz on March 11, 1934 at Yarrow MB Church and became a housewife, mother and helper to Daniel on his farm. Four children were born to them Elmer, Walter, Lottie and Ruby.

She is survived by her husband Daniel; two sons: Elmer of Clearbrook, and Walter of Victoria; two daughters: Lottie Coulson of Kelowna and Ruby (Cliff) Mayoh of Illinois; four grandchildren, three brothers: Martin Derksen of Ontario; Jake Derksen of Manitoba and Henry Derksen of Fresno, California; three sisters: Mrs. Katherine Neufeld of Clearbrook; Mrs. Nettie Giesbrecht of Yarrow and Mrs. Justina Peters of Sardis.

Pallbearers were Walter Derksen, Bill Giesbrecht, Henry Nickel, Peter Giesbrecht, Harvey Enns and Jake Nickel.

Burial followed at Yarrow Cemetery.
