Jacob Abrahams, late of Abbotsford, B.C. passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Monday, April 5, 2004 at the age of 76 years.
He was predeceased by his parents and 3 siblings. Survived by his loving wife Lillian; children Darlene (Rudy) Loewen of Kamloops, Norman Abrahams of Squamish, Darrell (Judy) Abrahams of Abbotsford, Angela (Patrick) Firth of Chilliwack, Janice (Allen) Siemens of Chilliwack, 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Helen (Jake) Martens and Katie Klassen; brothers John (Gertie) Abrahams and David (Lena) Abrahams; many nieces and nephews.
Jake was born in 1927 in Rosser, Manitoba and moved to Yarrow, B.C. at age 9.
He started his working career in the Lands and Forest Department in Victoria and after 3 years transferred to the Attorney General's Department (Courthouse) in Vancouver. Later he went into business for Home Oil for 5 1/2 years. For the next 25 years, Jake was active in real estate in Vancouver and Abbotsford.
Jake was an ardent outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hiking and hunting. He was involved in Christian Service Brigade for 14 years, training young teens to be leaders. Jake also served on the Board of Columbia Bible College and on the Board of Govenors of B.C.I.T.
After retiring in 1993, he enjoyed volunteering at Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre. He and his wife Lillian enjoyed their involvement in the Jubilee Singers and the Fellowship Choir. Jake was a hero for his family. Stalwart and true in his faith in God, and will always be remembered as a loving and patient husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from Bakerview M.B. Church, 2285 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
