SAWATSKY, Mary Braun
A long-time Yarrow area resident, Mary Sawatsky, 70, died July 3, 1980 at Chilliwack General Hospital.
Mary was born in Fischau, Russia and came to Canada in 1926 and settled in the Gurnsey area of Saskatchewan until 1943 when she moved to Yarrow BC.
Surviving are sons Roland of Winnipeg Manitoba, Victor of Valemont, B.C. four daughters, Mrs. E. (Leona) Janzen of Yarrow, Mrs. D. (Agnes) Loewen (nee Braun) of Chilliwack, Mrs. B. (Elsie) Krause of Vancouver, Mrs. L. (Rita) McDonnell of Hagensborg, B.C.; brothers George Bushman and Dave Bushman of Watrous, Sask and Pete Bushman of Lanigan, Sask and a sister Sarah Wiebe of Drake Sask.; 18 grandchildren survive.
She was predeceased by husbands David Braun in 1942 and Peter J. Sawatsky in 1962; a son Walter Sawatsky; an infant child and a grandchild.
Pallbearers were grandsons Terry Epp, Steven and Norman Sawatsky, Michael Krause, Randy Loewen and Doug Janzen.
Funeral service was held July 7, 1980 at Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. Henry Thielmann and Heinz Ratzlaff officiating. Interment was in Yarrow Cemetery.
