FUNK, Heinrich (Henry)

Henry Funk of 1021 Central Road Yarrow, died March 23, 1959 in Cottage Private Hospital, Abbotsford. His funeral took place at Yarrow MB Church with Rev. H. Lenzmann officiating.

Heinrich H. Funk was born April 29 1863 in Nieder-Chortitza, Chortitza South Russia to Heinrich & Agatha (Neufeld) Funk. His first wife was Agatha Neufeld, who passed away March 1885. He married Anna Redekopp on February 11, 1886 (who predeceased him in 1942). He was baptized May 11, 1896 in South Russia.

Heinrich & Anna immigrated to Canada in 1892, settling in Hague, Sask. They brought with them four children- Connie, Tena, Henry and Liesa. While in Hague, four more children were born- Mary, Eva, Margret, and Helen. They lived in Waldheim until they retired in 1938 and moved to Yarrow, B. C. He was ordained on June 8, 1924. At the time of his death, he was living with his daughter Mrs. George (Eva) Sawatsky in Yarrow.

Among his survivors are one son: Henry, Vancouver; five daughters: Mrs. D. Sawatsky, Abbotsford; Mrs. Frank Sawatsky, Greendale; Mrs. I. Peters, Vancouver; Mrs. H. Willms, Abbotsford; Mrs. George (Eva) Sawatsky, Yarrow; one sister Mrs. C. Redikop, Saskatchewan.

Pallbearers were six of Eva Sawatsky's grandsons. Burial was at Yarrow Cemetery.
